Naturepedic Organic Cotton 2 in 1 Ultra Baby Crib & Toddler Mattress creates a natural, healthy environment for your baby or toddler.  Naturepedic mattresses are 100% free of materials typically used in conventional mattresses such as vinyl/PVC and polyurethane foam, which release questionable chemicals over time.  These materials and toxic chemicals have been eliminated in the Naturepedic No-Compromise Organic Baby Crib Mattress.

Babies spend up to 70% of their early lives sleeping and playing on crib mattresses & their tiny bodies are especially susceptible to the harmful effect of synthetic fire retardants.  This mattress has been tested for chemical emissions and certified by GreenGuard to meet their strict standards for babies & children.

The top of our 2 in 1 Dual Firmness Mattress is firmer and features the same luxurious waterproof organic cotton cover as the No-Compromise Ultra Baby Crib Mattress providing a firm flat surface for infants.  The other side is a softer quilted "grown up" style for toddlers, featuring a luxuriously quilted organic cotton cover for a more mature mattress surface resembling a conventional adult mattress. Please note that this side is not waterproof and would require a Waterproof Organic Protector Pad for full waterproof and dust-mite protection.

Naturepedic 2 in 1 Ultra Quilted Deluxe Mattress features 100% certified organic cotton filling and a quilted cover.  Organic cotton is a healthy choice for your baby nursery because it is grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers.  Our expertly quilted organic cotton crib mattress comes with a luxurious sateen finish.  Organic cotton filling provides for great air circulation while maintaining even humidity and balanced temperatures for maximum comfort.  It is the ultimate toxic chemical free filling material.

Certified organic cotton filling is mother nature's finest material for a healthy and comfortable sleep.  A crib mattress made with organic cotton promotes a healthy and toxic chemical-free sleeping environment for babies.  Cotton is an ideal filling material because it is natural & renewable, unbleached, undyed, and grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers.  This mattress contains no wool or latex and features a dust mite barrier cover.

This Naturepedic baby crib mattress boasts heavy duty 252 coil orthopedic innerspring with center support and firm flat surface to provide ideal support in accordance with pediatrician and Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) firmness recommendations.  In addition, heavy-duty border rods add strong side, edge and center support.  Uniquely designed for a snug fit.

Naturepedic's All Natural Fire Protection

Cotton does not burst into flames or release deadly fumes when ignited, unlike polyurethane foam.  The Naturepedic exclusive fire protection system features a non toxic, naturally derived fire barrier system that is safe and effective. It meets and exceeds all Federal and State flammability standards without the use of potentially harmful chemicals.

The primary filling material used in nearly all crib mattresses today is polyurethane foam, a highly flammable substance because it is essentially a petroleum product.  In fact, the National Association of State Fire Marshals refers to it as “solid gasoline.”

In order to prevent this hazard and pass Federal and State flammability standards, polyurethane foam has typically been treated or wrapped with harsh industrial fire retardant chemicals, which pose other health and toxicity issues.  Some of these chemicals have already been associated with thyroid and liver damage, hyperactivity, and changes in motor behavior and other brain functions.  These chemicals typically constituted 10-30% of the foam by weight and can easily become airborne.  Natural organic cotton is a far superior filling material and is significantly less flammable than polyurethane foam.

Our exclusive fire protection system is based on the unique fire retardant properties of baking soda and hydrated silica bonded to cellulose fiber.  Baking soda is a non toxic substance with excellent fire retardant properties. Baking soda is a non toxic substance with excellent fire retardant properties and can be found as a naturally occurring compound.  Silica is a natural mineral that comprises about 60% of the earth’s crust.  Clay, rocks, sand, etc. are all made primarily of silica.  It is a major constituent of human tissue, bones, teeth, and is even available at health food stores as a food supplement.  It is also a primary ingredient in natural toothpaste.  The cellulose fiber used is derived primarily from eucalyptus and poplar trees and has a low carbon footprint.  These materials provide the best way to meet fire regulations without the use of dangerous chemicals.
